Home

It’s been just over a week since we returned home and it’s fair to say that only Chloe was delighted the trip was over.  Her boney body is more suited to her bed and soft furnishings, she loves the certainty of her regular walks and a return to her normal food that dried up those sloppy stools which plagued her for much of our time away.

While it’s been nice to have a little more space and comfort in our lives, both of us preferred the thrill and excitement of life on the road.  Work is, well you know, it’s work.  It’s nothing more than a transaction where you give someone else your skills and time and they give you money to spend as you see fit.  It’s necessary but I’ve come back home thinking many of those hours are better spent doing something else.

There has been a lot of washing, it took the better part of a week to finish and piles of it still lay all around the house waiting to be returned to the van… which still needs a good clean first, it’s a job that’s easy to procrastinate.  In time, I’ll start to go through my images and I’m already looking forward to what I might find.  Kerry is already reviewing her phone and has begun putting together delightful reels of our trip that you will find here.

It hurts my head to think that three months ago we were in the snow in Switzerland, lounging on a Greek Island only two months ago, or cruising around the Danube Delta on a boat within the last month.  Time passes too quickly and when you have done something that feels so significant, you realise there just doesn’t seem to be enough of it.

Everyone tells us it was the trip of a lifetime, and I’ve even described it like that myself, but I don’t want it to be.  There’s still too much to see and I could happily to spend the rest of my lifetime travelling before I take my final breath.

I’ll leave you all in peace now, my normal day to day events are hardly worth noting let alone writing a blog about.  I have one last special surprise for subscribers which will be in your inbox soon.

Which means all that’s left to do is thank everyone for following our journey.
