As crossings go, today couldn’t have gone better. We were an hour early for check in but were quickly bundled onto an imminently departing ferry. We’d paid for the pet lounge, which was pleasingly empty and promptly stole or consumed as much complimentary coffee, Pepsi, water and Earl Grey tea bags as we could.

Chloe took the crossing in her stride, every day she surprises us with her bravery, adaptability and independent spirit. We’d never planned to get another dog before this trip. A dog can be a hindrance or a bother, not to mention restrictive. But they can also be an absolute joy and our little ex-racing rescue has quickly exhibited a lust for life that the racing industry could never fully extinguish.

Today brought us to Dunkirk and a pleasant stroll along the beach of Malo-les-Bains, which played a starring role in the history books during WW2. It was definitely a little on the breezy side but the windswept length of sand stretched further than we could walk and has tuckered out our little hound who is struggling to adapt to French food judging by the frequent farts and stench that fills our small living space.
If you don’t like dogs then you won’t like todays images, I got a bit carried away so I’ve thrown in a few extra to mix it up.
